CRYSTAL RAIN x Swarovski Crystals

Handmade fashion accessory sponsored by Swarovski Crystals. Exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum 2019. Inspired by the Christian Dior Designer of Dreams exhibit and nature.

The piece is created really by tension, holding itself together through soldered brass tubing and hand bent bamboo. Aurora Borealis stones sponsored by Swarovski were strung creating the very physical element of iridescent, luminosity found in nature.

An aerialist suspends like a beautiful art piece symbolising they are very "spectacle" itself. Finding movement in stillness of Anderson & Low's photography of gymnasts and aerial performers, poetic and evocative. Capturing notions of freedom, the beauty of form, and the beauty of dynamic bodies.

Image shows pieces from the Arena and Deconstructed Silhouettes family from the collection Spectacle of the Body. Experimental designs were all handmade with vitreous enamel - the process of fusing powdered glass to metal and hand-painted details.

SPECTACLE OF THE BODY

Spectacle of the Body is a collection of work exploring themes of the body and transformation. Finding harmony and balance in the existence of soft and strong, the delicate and sharp, and movement in stillness.

The body and its performing environment is a space of transformation, a space in which form is beautiful, form is performative. This collection is a series of 4 mini collections that have no beginning or end: Arena, The Balancing Act, Deconstructed Silhouettes and Bodies in Flight.
